The Tinsmith’s Wife prides ourselves in carrying select products for your needlework. We know that so much love and parts of ourselves are stitched into the items we create.  As with our shop, much of the needlework industry is founded upon small businesses that are stitched together with love, family, and friends. So, we thought it would be fun to give some extra special attention and focus to two of our favorites companies. Lakeside Linens and Weeks Dye Works who both supply superior materials for needlework

Lakeside Linens

Our selection of cross stitch linen and fibers is a reflection of the passion we have for great needlework. Lakeside Linens is our source for elegant linen in a variety of stitch counts. These linens are also dyed with care and love. The company was started by two close friends who love cross stitching as much as we do. They combined their loves of cross-stitching and chocolate to make their wonderful linens.

Their base is Zweigart® line which is available in both “Regular” and “Vintage”. Their linens are colorfast and so beautifully soft. Which makes it perfect for either hand stitching or stitching on a frame. Their colors are rich and lovely – a perfect base for a sampler or a primitive pin cushion. My favorite color is Vintage Examplar, seems to go with every color, but heavens there are so many….

Weeks Dye Works

We carry a variety of great threads and linens from Weeks Dye Works. We find it so fun that their founder started the company right in her very own bathtub.  Weeks Dye Works has since grown from those bathtub days. Now housed in an 8,200 square foot facility, they produce up to 13,00 yards a day. With over 587 color and fiber combinations they always strive for consistency, which they do achieve.

They are such a wonderful family business that provides a variety of materials for us. I am excited that we not only have their 6-ply cotton floss, but also carry spools of 2-ply and 3-ply cotton floss. That is perfect for not only cross stitch but punch needle embroidery and wool applique as well. We also carry Weeks Dye Works linen in multiple thread counts. We also have their fun gingham colorways, wool fabric, wool crewel yarns, pearl cotton, and weaver’s cloth. Can you tell how much we love Weeks Dye Works?!

More to come on the great companies, vendors, and friends who create the materials you find in our shop.
