March is upon us! In addition to Mardi Gras – we have St. Patrick’s Day, which is one of my personal favorites. The Tinsmith’s Wife hopes to bring you a bit of lucky inspiration.
Ginormous Yarn Sale Continues
Saturday, March 2nd 10am-5pm
We made a great dent with the sale days we had in late January, but we still have some great stuff that needs a new home. We have some great yarns – all at 50% off– a variety of yarn weights and much in sweater quantity!
Also, Saturday has some fun happening at the 8th Street Market with their Vintage Flea! Definitely worthy of a swing by.
Double Down Shawl Crochetalong
Begins March 7th!
Crochetalongs are so much fun – especially when they give us a few tips and tricks along the way! The new Mandobug CAL is the Double Down Shawl – and it promises to teach us Increases that give sharp corners and how to do chainless starting stitches.
The pattern calls for DK weight llama yarn – and we have some beauties, but this may also be the time to stash dive to see if you have a bit of DK-weight yarn that would fit the bill. You just need four colors – approximately 1100 yards – and a 4.0 mm hook. We will be meeting on Thursday afternoon over the next month to keep up with this one.
Texas Mosquito: Stitched and Embellished
Wednesday, March 6th 11am-4pm
Beth is coming back – and we are so excited! This time she has created a new design based upon her Texas WILDlife Series – and the mosquito is just so darn cute for being a little bloodsucker.
The cost of the class and kit is $135. Your kit is beautiful and will include most of what you need – including a gorgeous piece of hand painted fabric as the base. (Kits are available if you cannot make it to the class.)

Sporty Forty KAL
Kickoff March 12th (or sooner if you can’t wait!)
What a great combination – Ewe Ewe Yarns and The Brown Stitch! To celebrate their 40th birthdays – they are having a KAL in the Sporty Forty shawl – and it is adorable! I already have mine cast one. What to join me? Official cast on is set for 3/12….
More details on the pattern here and we have a great selection of Ewe Ewe Sporty in stock. Heather has also done a great job suggesting eight color combinations that will knock your socks off.
I chose to go with a Springtime feel using Iris Blossom, Lavender, and Pistachio. Here is a pic of my work in progress with some cute little cat feet from home…
March Needlepoint Ornament
Stitchalong on March 17th from 1-4pm
We have had a blast with the needlepoint ornaments for each month, and Terri has done a great job creating stitch guides that teach us a few new things. This month we have picked a Rocking Horse from The Meredith Collection – and such a cutie!
Kits are available – and everyone is welcome to pop in if you can on Sunday, 3/17!
