Fall Arrives
What better time is there to create with your hands then Fall. There are so many wonderful reasons to get out and about – and as many to stay inside the house with a cup of tea and make.
As I have not sent out a newsletter in a bit – I am going to focus this one on the reasons to come out for a visit to Comfort….and the next newsletter that will follow will focus on all the creations you can make! So get your calendar ready to read on…

Introduction to Kumihimo Braid Making
On Wednesday, September 11th from 1 – 4 pm, we are having our first kumihimo braid making class. Charlotte is teaching us, and she will have us making braid that can be used for a beautiful pendant, a drawstring on a bag, or a cording on a finished needlework piece. There is one spot left – is it for you?
Local Needlepoint Shop Day
Saturday, September 21st (all day) we are celebrating needlepoint and needlepointers. We will have a fresh crop of goodies from the needlepoint market – and a party atmosphere! Several of our great stitchers are bringing the needlework that they are most proud of to show others how awesome needlepoint is.
On the same Saturday, we are having the Fall Comfort Art Festival. Our town will be filled with great artists. Obviously the 21st is a day to come to town!
Introduction to Punch Needle Embroidery
I do love punch needle – it is the one craft I do that does not require counting….and it is feels like you are coloring with fiber.
Join us on Friday, September 27th form 1- 4 pm for an introduction to punch needle embroidery. You will be surprised how quickly you can learn a new craft and have a great finished project for Fall!
The Tinsmith’s Wife 11th Anniversary
Holy smokes – another year has zipped by – and we are so delighted and blessed to be celebrating 11 years.
On Saturday, September 28th, we will be having a party – with some great fun! We are going to make this the first half of a half birthday party – with the other half in six months. (There are so many great things happening in this time – that we want to savor all that is a birthday!)
Introduction to Cross Stitch
On Wednesday, October 2nd we want to get you cross stitching! This is a super fun craft that can augment your others. Join us if you haven’t ever cross stitched or cross stitched a million years ago – we will get you back in the saddle. (AND join us if you would just like to stitch in public!)
The Knitted Wit Trunk Show
On Saturday, October 5th (11 am – 4 pm), we are delighted to have Lorajean of The Knitted Wit joining us for a great trunk show to show off her amazing and vibrant colors! We have chosen her Magical Mythical Tour palette – and know you will be delighted!
Best Little Yarn Crawl in Texas
This year’s Yarn Crawl kicks off on Friday, October 11th and runs through Sunday, October 20th. Passports for the event will soon be available at the shop for $15. This year should be another great one that you will not want to miss.
We have two wonderful new designs created especially for the event and using our highlighted yarn. AND we will also have great special events during the Crawl….
Saturday, October 12th – Lone Wolf Fibers – Simply gorgeous Texas fibers that are naturally dyed. Sarah will be here – and what a gifted woman. You will be smitten.
Saturday, October 19th – Dream in Color – We are excited that Veronica Van and her amazing colorways will be in town to celebrate Yarn Crawl.
