Happy Summertime!

Hoping you are enjoying your summer and keeping your hands busy with making neat stuff. AND if you need a few ideas on new neat stuff to make – read on! But before we delve into that fun – a quick announcement regarding the festivities in Comfort this Thursday….

July 4th Celebration in Comfort

Pop! Bang! Zing!

Can you believe that July 4th is nearly upon us?! Such a fun time of the year – even with the heat. One of my favorite parts of being in Comfort, Texas is our July 4th Parade – it is perfect small-town and patrotic. If you are able to drive over the day – it is so worth it. The festivities begin at 10 am on Thursday, July 4th – and following the parade, the picnic in the park is always yummy. You can read more about the Comfort day here.

Please know the shop will be open our regular hours of 10 am to 5 pm on July 4th.

Knitmas In July – Knitalong

Mom is the lucky one getting to knitalong with Nomadic Knits on her new knitalong – Knitmas in July. This is a fun and colorful asymmetrical shawl knitalong that is perfect for the easy and relaxed feel of Summer. Just needs a skein of fingering yarn and three coordinating mini skeins.

The pattern is beautifully written – and available today on Ravelry. and it even includes a super awesome row-by-row pattern to make it even easier!

If you would like an excuse to get a new kit – we have made some Knitmas in July kits with the yummy Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere. You can find the kits here – and if you cannot find a color combo to excite, we will gladly help pull something together for you! Watch for Mom’s progress throughout July via Instragram and/or Facebook.

Patriotic Needlepoint, Oh My!

One of my favorite categories of needlepoint canvases – patriotic! Love the colors and the feel of join that they give me. Thought I would share a few of our new arrivals – and this is just a fraction of the fun canvases we have…

I do continue to add more to our online shop, but please do not hesitate to holler if you are looking for something specific. The pictures above are linked to our online shop – but you can also see more patriotic canvases here.

Cross Stitch, Cross Stitch, Where Art Thou?

Right here! New summer patterns seem to arrive almost each day. In addition to the awesome new Teresa Kogut patterns pictured above (you can link through when you click on the picture) – with the book having seven (7) awesome patterns inside – we have also gotten in new Plum Street, Summer House, etc. Thinking of how to cut out another hour of sleep to stitch more! SMILE!

These new patterns are up in our online shop now – but please do send us a note or give us a call if you would like us to put together a project for you.

Again, we hope that this coming holiday week is filled with family and joy – and a lot of cool water. If you can, the Comfort parade is so worthy of a visit – and we do love to see everyone! Happy Birthday, America!

Now in closing, I did make a social media post a week ago about the two new feline additions to our household…. Lucy and Ethel (see picture above). These two cuties were rescued here in Comfort and are just joys. At 10-weeks old they are more fun than you can imagine – this picture was taken after four hours of pretty continuous play. We still aren’t sure if they will be seen in the shop – depends on if they have restraint as they get older…. Either way, you will hear about them!
