30 Aug The “We’re Almost Ten” List
The countdown is on for our 10th anniversary celebration set for September 29th. Ten years goes by in a flash – and thank goodness, we are as passionate about needlework as when we started – and maybe a bit more!
This newsletter is my top ten countdown of great things happening this month and great projects in some of the crafts we love. As you know, I can never cram it all into one newsletter – so little time…and so many wonderful things to knit, crochet, needlepoint, cross stitch or punch needle!
The Countdown
10. On-line Shop Arriving 9/4!
Yep, we plan to curate a few items from our favorite crafts and put them in our on-line shop. We hope that this helps those who live a bit further than a drive to the shop. The on-line shop goes live on 9/4 so watch for more announcements!
9. Berroco for Fall
New Berroco yarns for Fall/Winter 2018 have arrived – and I am in love with the Aero – a chunky but super light concotion of alpaca/nylon/wool that self stripes too! This sweater is Mera – and perfect for our winters.
8. Ancient Arts
I bet you can tell that we love Ancient Arts yarns, right? And we are excited to be a part of the monthly colorway club! This month’s colorway- Cornucopia – is in Socknado and should be perfect to get you into the spirit for Fall. A simple shaw like Summer Sky by Woolenberr would be PERFECT with one skein!
7. Local Needlepoint Shop Day – 9/20
The first annual Local Needlepoint Day is set for Thursday, 9/20 from 10 am – 5pm. We have a great day planned for those who love needlepoint or want to love needlepoint. Includes a specially designed kit- and a few other surprises!
6. Needlepoint Support and Help
We are so delighted to have Terri Dudley available when you need help taking your needlepoint to the next leve – or to get you started on the needlepoint journey. Terri is available by appointment ( just call the shop) on Wednesdays amd Thursdays from 11:30 am – 3:30 pm. The cose is $35 per hour.
5. Needlepoint Stitch of the Month
Balloon Stitch
This is one of Terri’s favorite background stitches – and it can be stitched horizontally or vertically. It also easily adapts to whatever shape your area is. Consider using this one for floral patterns or when you are stitching water.
4. Crochet Thursdays
We are having the best time on Thursday afternoons with Crochet Thursdays! Now several of us are crocheting The History of Trees Shawl and reading the book Bareskins by Annie Proulx. Really great fun.
3. Ubuntu CAL 9/13
We are excited for the arrival of the Scheepjes Ubuntu Crochet-a-long kits! The CAL will offcially begin on 9/12 – and we are ready! Please join us in person or remotely to make this gorgeous afghan. If you have not yet gotten your kit, we have several large kits still available.
2. Brenda Gervais
The new Brenda Gervais designs are here – and as always, they do not disappoint! I am particularly excited by The Cat and The Moon – the cross stitch fits on top of a peat pot that makes the little basket. Super cute hostess gift for someone (or yourself)…
Join us on Saturday, September 29th to help us celebrate the big 10! Yep – that is ten years. In addition to unveiling our awesome knitting kit for this year- we will also have a variety of other goodies to celebrate.
As with any The Tinsmith’s Wife gathering – we will have a true party that will include Cousin’s Lobster food truck should you need lunch or an early supper. Come by and say hi!
