Celebrate 2019 at The Tinsmith’s Wife

We hope that 2019 has been amazing for you so far! We have been busy here in Comfort finishing the new ‘Cast-on Cottage’ (for our back stock of inventory) and planning a great first half of the year with classes, projects, and new goodies to keep you inspired and creating in the new year!

Love the optimism and openness that this quote brings as we enter the new year…

“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written.” – Melody Battle

Monthly Ornament:  Little Bird Designs Silver Star – $55

In 2019, we have a plan to highlight an ornament each month that will be kitted up for a reasonable cost with a stitch guide written by our awesome and talented, Terri. I am overjoyed to have Beth Cunningham joining us to teach us a bit about embroidery with an amazing design and kit that she has created especially for us!

Starting with a raw edge appliqué base of 6 pieces, learn multiple hand-embellishments via beading, buttons, and embroidery stitches. A kit comes with the class that includes almost all that you need.  Just add scissors (for paper and fabric), sewing thread in a neutral color, Frixion pen (0.05mm) in red or green, and a clear plastic ruler with 1/4″ markings.

We have three spots left for this class, so please call us at 830.995.5539 if you are interested in joining us!

Sweater Knitalong

Have you heard that 2019 is “The Year of the Sweater”?  If not – it sure is! So many of us have had a blast with shawls, scarves and other items and have shied away from garments. The year is here to tackle this – and what fun!

Year of the sweater

We have several great sweater pattern ideas and several samples in the shop. We will use the time on Friday to pick a project, find yarn, test gauge and get us going. Please know that this will be a casual knitalong with no set parameters, but we will have time set aside every other Friday for ‘check-in’ time should you need assistance.

Introduction to Sock Knitting

Socks are such a fun knitting project, and at times, it does feel a bit daunting to start. Come and join us on Friday afternoon to add a new passion to your year – sock knitting! If you have not knitted socks before, we do recommend a DK weight yarn and a US3 set of DPNs or two circulars.

GinormousYarn Sale

As mentioned in the opening paragraph, we have almost completed our cottage to store our backstock of inventory. And as we moved the yarn over, we found out that it all doesn’t quite fit in the cottage. We are hoping you will help us make a bit of room by taking some great yarn home with you at 50% off!

50% off yarn

Each of our Sale Saturdays, Mom and I will put together a wonderful selection of yarns for that day, and it will be not be duplicated on the following Sale Saturday. We have many yarns in sweater quantities and in all weights from lace to bulky.

Be sure to bring your iPad and/or printed patterns to see what we can match up at a great price! The sale will begin at 10 am and run through 5 pm, and all yarns will be on the porch of the new cottage, right behind the shop.

P.S. Ginormous is a word.   Click here to learn more.
