Local Yarn Shop Day is Tomorrow!

With the beautiful Fall weather that we have had arrive this week – it is also time for Local Yarn Shop Day tomorrow – Saturday, 9/12. This is a national event that has been rescheduled from their normal Spring dates – and honestly, the timing couldn’t be better!

What do we have in the works for you?! We have a number of great yarns that have been specially dyed and/or with special patterns to celebrate the event in both knit and crochet. Below are a few highlights.

How can you participate and celebrate with us? Well – you can definitely participate with us virtually or in person. I have created a special spot in our online shop that will be populated early tomorrow morning with a number of great projects and kits that have been put together for this event. And if you are able to visit the shop, we will be open from 10 am to 5 pm.

Caution – many of our offerings have very limited quantities so when they are gone they will be gone. If you are planning to join us in person – you may consider taking a look in the online shop before you come, and you can always use the option to pick up in the store versus having us ship.

How do you find our online shop? Just follow this link – and there is a button that will have the items specific to LYS Day on the front page of the shop with a special category.

And if you are a needlepointer or a cross stitcher – sorry about the focus on yarn in this newslettert! More will be coming for you soon – see the save the date at the bottom of this email.

Ancient Arts

This amazing Canadian team has put together two super fun knitting kits, and they look like a blast to knit.

The first is the Ensorcell Shawl which knits up amazingly in the NettleSoft DK. This yarn has a tight twist and an amazing sheen. Your kit includes three skeins of the yarn and the pattern! (I also just finished a crochet shawl with this yarn – and it is amazing.)

The second kit is the Jagger Shawl which is kitted up with Ancient Arts Revival. The kit includes the pattern and one skein of yarn. Just add US 6, 7, and 8 circular needles.

Wonderland Yarns

The LYS Day 2020 colorway is a knockout in my estimation – but it helps that it is my favorite color – turquoisey blue with flecks of colors. We couldn’t pick which yarn base so we got an amazing assortment – and with each purchase, you will receive a special pattern that partners with the yarn. Crocheters – they have some wonderful patterns for us as well!

Koigu Pencil Boxes (Oh, My)

Koigu has put together 10 new pencil boxes of their KPPM yarn based on Estonian Folk Woven Skirts. Can we say – wow, riot of amazing color?!

And yep – there are a great couple of patterns to make with these beauties. The Venation by Ambah is one – and Koigu has another awesome shawl, Muhu, specially made for these great colors.

And for the crocheters out there – Dragonfly: Corner to Corner Shawl is a winner!

Mom also just finished up a scarf from Loops that would be the bomb as well….

Manos

As always the colors and graphic feel of Manos patterns really draw me in…. The three projects that they have put together are wonderful – and do correspond with some new color offerings too!

Berroco

Berroco has been a shop-saver with their DropShip program over this pandemic time, and we thank many of you who have used this service for your projects.

To celebrate LYS Week – they are offering three great sweaters to get us ready for the Holiday Sweater KAL. As you follow them on Instagram and Facebook – they are also having great giveaways and making making fun!

To learn more about these three sweaters – just follow this link. If you would like one of them, just give us a call or send us an email with the size, color, and which sweater – and we will get you set!

Blue Sky Fibers

We are delighted to be a Blue Sky Fiber stockist – and do love and have on hand many of their yarns. To help us celebrate LYS Day, they are offering one of their patterns (via a download code that will work on their website or Ravelry) with the purchase of Blue Sky Fiber yarns. Just know that if you do get a code – you must download your pattern between 9/11 and 9/13.

Malabrigo

Malabrigo’s Rios is truly a staple yarn for us here – and there are just so many amazing colors. To celebrate LYS Day, Malabrigo is sharing a download code for the Clara hat when you purchase your Rios this weekend. Just need two skeins to make this beauty.

Ewe Ewe Yarns

Heather has created a fun shawl that has a pattern repeat that is easy to remember and fun to knit! (And if you are a beginner knitter – this is the perfect shawl to put in your queue.)

The shawl is knit in Ewe So Sporty, which is a scrunchy and fun yarn. The Summer Berries shawl just takes 3 of your main color and 1 of a contrast color – and boom! You do receive a pattern download code when you make your yarn purchase. (I have been having fun with charcoal and a super neon yellow for mine.)

The Fibre Company

If you wanted to create the perfect classic cardigan – this may be the perfect time. The Fibre Company has a free download code that we can share with you when you purchase the Cumbria or Cumbria Fingering to create the Lowther sweater. The details are perfect – and may just be one that you make a couple of times. (Be sure to download your code by 9/14!)

2020 Comfort Fall Art Festival

We are excited that the 8th Annual Comfort Fall Art Walk is still a go this year – Saturday, September 19th from 10 am to 4 pm. As the event will be outside throughout the Comfort historic district, it may be a wonderful way to get out and enjoy. We will be happily hosting one or two artists on our front porch as well.

Save the Date

Be sure to save the date for our Local Needlepoint Shop Day set for Saturday, October 25th. As with the Local Yarn Shop Day above – we will have wonderful new canvases and goodies galore!
