And oh, the fun we will have!
Thanksgiving will be here in just under two weeks – and with that, the holiday season will officially be in full swing. It has sure helped that here in South Texas we have been blessed with a bit of cool weather to help get us in the spirit!
If you haven’t gotten your projects lined up for the upcoming holidays – here are a few ideas to inspire, Specifically, inspiration for you to create for others during the holiday (there are many suitable to be worked on during a Thanksgiving football game) and some that you should definitely ask Santa for…
Needlepoint & Cross Stitch
Yep – great new canvases and patterns continue to arrive (nearly daily) that demand creation! Hard to keep up with pictures – so just going to give a bit of a teaser. Please know you are always welcome to call – and I will send you a few pictures to match your taste and desires.
Kathy Rees of Needle Delights Originals
Always has such fun counted canvas pieces. (Counted canvas is where you have a blank piece of needlepoint canvas and add wonderful fibers in a design from a chart). She has created an amazing series of Holiday Delights – and there is still time to complete one for Christmas or Hanukkah and perhaps get it converted into a pillow….
I am always partial to With Thy Needle and Thread’s designs, and the Holiday Hoopla series is just darn fun. (Cross Stitch is stitched on linen fabric – often over two threads with cotton or silk floss.)
La-D-Da always is a pleasure – and oh, this new Merry Christmas Sampler is not the exception!
And then there are painted canvases for needlepoint that are a bit too numerous to take pictures of! Here is one special polar bear from Pippin that is just too cute for words. This guy is on 13 mesh – so would be a great one to have during visits with family…. (Needlepoint is stitched on painted canvases with a variety of fibers – and can hold multiple decorative stitches.)
Knitting and Crochet
Oh, so many of the independent dyers have a blast with ways to excite us about knitting for the holiday during the holiday! As a first – I have put almost all of the goodies in this section up on our on-line shop on our website. Yep – working to move into this millennium! SMILE!
Dream in Color has put together a beautiful palette of holiday colors that just sing and would create an elegant knitted or crocheted shawl… I could definitely see a three color Riotous Shawl by Jessica Correa or CJ Brady’s Vintage Romance would be beautiful in any one of the skeins….
Each of the colors are up on our on-line shop under yarn – just pick your favorites!
The amazing talent at Dream in Color also released their Sock-It color for this month – and I love how I can fully see the inspiration in the picture of the cardinal. Wow! What a great pair of socks this would be!
The Knitted Wit has also put together some great fun for this holiday season – and some of the best names from Bad Santa to Dirty Santa to Sassy Santa! Two great colors would make a wonderful Divisa Scarf by Nina Rose….
Each of the colors are up on our on-line shop under yarn – just pick your favorites! It is tough, huh?!
But wait – there is more!
Sweet Georgia has created several amazing kits to help us out this holiday season….
The Eliora Crochet Hat kit is just a warm cute one skein project, and it comes in five amazing colorways. (Yep – all on our website.) Just add an I hook and a pom pom!
The Symphony Kit is just a drop-dead, jewel-toned, amazing shawl project that would be perfect as an advent shawl…. The kit includes the pattern and 15 mini skeins of Tough Love sock. Wow!
Of course this is just a start of the great new stuff that is arriving to be knitted or crocheted….
Personally, I am excited about the collaboration between The Knitted Wit and Shannon Squire – ShannaJean Club! I have already dug into my Introduction Kit and begun to knit on my hat….and am anxiously awaiting February to arrive to bring the next yarn and pattern….
Start off with the ShannaJean Introduction Kit (that includes a project bag, marker, yarn for a great bobble hat, and a download code for an eBook) – and then every other month starting in February get a new shipment of Knitted Wit yarn(s) – and a new pattern in your eBook! Patterns are slated to include several shawls, hats, mitts, cowls, and socks. (Additional costs per shipment range from $26 – $60 based upon the yarn and project.) Each project is plotted to teach you at least one new technique – and allow you to knit with super fun colors!
Here is a quick shot of the Introduction Kit – and my work in progress…. Loving the color – just makes me think of cupcakes and unicorns!
